A Bola

A Bola (own notation: A BOLA, dt The Ball) is a Portuguese sports newspaper. It was founded in 1945 and was published until 1994, three times per week; Since 1995, she appears daily. A Bola is the largest circulation newspaper in Portugal, with a circulation of 150,000 copies. An international edition is printed since 2006 in Newark, New Jersey (USA).

The founders of the newspaper are Cândido de Oliveira Ribeiro dos Reis, and Vicente de Melo. The director of A Bola is Vítor Serpa.

Content far outweighs the football coverage on the Portuguese first and second division clubs. But on foreign football (especially Spain and England ), basketball, handball, futsal and Formula 1 is reported regularly.

A Bola is considered the " house newspaper" of Benfica. Alternatively, there is the newspaper Record (circulation: 120,000 ), the more responsive Sporting Lisbon trailer, and O Jogo (circulation: 60,000 ) for supporters of FC Porto.

A Bola is a member of European Sports Magazines (ESM ), an association of European Sports Magazines and newspapers.
