A Brief History of Time

A Brief History of Time ( original English title A Brief History of Time ) is a 1988 by the physicist Stephen W. Hawking published popular science book. It quickly became a bestseller; In 2002, more than nine million copies were sold.

The book deals with questions of cosmology and thereby illuminates in particular the role of time. It includes considerations to the Big Bang, and tries to explain properties of black holes with the help of string theory.

A Brief History of Time remained 237 weeks on the bestseller list of The Sunday Times, more than any other book. It has been translated into forty languages. Meanwhile, this book has been revised and brought up to date scientific knowledge.

A further revised edition of the book called " The Illustrated Brief History of Time ". Through many additional images and illustrations, an attempt is made to understand and clearly illustrate the content.

In October 2005, published by Stephen Hawking is a simplified version of his book entitled " A Briefer History of Time".
