A- Lex is the eleventh studio album by Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura. It was released in January 2009 Steamhammer / SPV.

Formation

Like its predecessor, Dante XXI, which was based on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, A- Lex is a concept album. A- Lex is based on the book A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess in 1962, which was made ​​into a film in 1971 by Stanley Kubrick. A- Lex is the first album with the new drummer Jean Dolabella, after Igor Cavalera left the band in 2006.

A- Lex was included in the Trama Studios in São Paulo in 2008 and mixed in the mega studios. This Stanley Soares co-produced with the band, Monika Cavalera was executive producer. According to the band, the plate was developed in record time because it was based on studio jam sessions that had taken the band over a period of three months.

Guitarist Andreas Kisser said to the concept of the album:

The title is a play on words from Alex, the main character of A Clockwork Orange, as well as the from the Latin and ancient Greek -derived a lex ( without law ').
