A Morning Stroll

A Morning Stroll is a British animated short film directed by Grant Orchard from the year 2011.

Action

A morning in New York City in 1959: The traffic flows quietly on the streets there, a man collides with a passer together and apologized briefly, and around the corner bends, a chicken. The man observed the chicken amazed that bounces along the road, up some steps or jumps to a doorway, with his beak knocking at the door and is finally admitted.

In 2009 there is the morning rush hour. A teenager listening to music on his smartphone, collides with a woman who spilled her coffee on her shirt. The young man she not followed further. As a chicken turns the corner, but he stops and wants to photograph the chicken, which now jumps up the steps to the front door, with his smartphone. He encounters a zombie app that he begins to play. When he reflects on the photography, the chicken is gone. Before him, the angry woman and the young person is going on quickly.

The year 2059 has no moving cars, but only car wrecks. The road staggers a zombie -like human with semi -swelling from the oversized head brain along, when suddenly the chicken comes around the corner. It bounces past the nature and turns suddenly to face him. The brain of the Zombie space a little further out of the skull and the zombie mutated at one time to a fury with bulging eyes. He pursues the fleeing chicken snarling and creeps him even after taking a car. Just so it creates the chicken to draw attention to themselves through diligent pecking at the door and to be admitted. The zombie lands on the slammed door and died in a huge pool of blood. Inside, a man of the simple animation style of the 1959 episode of the same, the door with many locks and displays relieved closes. The chicken, however, begins to peck at his food bowl, he accuses his morning excursions.

Background

The film was initially conceived as a one-minute animation project the studio Studio Aka, to thereby test the animation skills. However, due to the influence of Sue Goffe, the production manager of the studio, it became a short film project. The short film was thus in the range of some side projects of the studio, which is actually dedicated to advertising.

The Premiere of The Morning Stroll took place on 27 September 2011 at the Edmonton International Film Festival. The events of the film is to the joke " Why did the chicken cross the road? " (Engl.: " Why did the chicken cross the road ?") Ajar. In addition, it is loosely based on a true story that describes Paul Auster in his book True Tales of American Life.

Awards

On the Edmonton International Film Festival won A Morning Stroll the prize for best animated short film. Sundance Film Festival 2012, the film won the award for Best Animated Short Film and won the British Academy Film Awards 2012 in the category Best Animated Short Film. The film was also nominated for an Oscar in 2012 for Best Animated Short.
