A Passion Play is a much discussed concept album by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull. It is the seventh work of the band, while the sixth studio album.

Prehistory

At the beginning of 1973 took Jethro Tull for tax reasons in the vicinity of Paris at the Château D' Herouville a new album. The recordings were a fiasco for technical, production technology and health reasons. The recording sessions were not completed, the band returned to be returned to the United Kingdom. The recordings were also subsequently discontinued. Instead, Jethro Tull decided to make a fresh start. Nevertheless, some of the songs on this recording sessions formed the basis of A Passion Play, especially the music on. The later albums and War Child Minstrel in the Gallery include shares from these recordings. The absorption bands were known by the facetious name Château D' isaster tapes and published in 1988 in part to 20 Years Of Jethro Tull 1993 Nightcap and extensive.

Album

In 1973 the album A Passion Play was released, it came down to No. 1 on the U.S. charts, although it was mostly bad reviews. Criticism was allegedly diffuse text guidance and compared to its predecessor Thick As a Brick complex music and even more difficult story. Thematically is the completely continuous current album of topics such as rebirth and eternal life. In surrealist centerpiece the story of a rabbit is told in the form of a fable, who has lost his glasses. Many animals seek remedies until the rabbit comes to mind that he has a spare pair. Speaker of the fable is Jeffrey Hammond - Hammond, who had also co-authored with Anderson and Evan.
