A Place in the Land

A Place in the Country is an American documentary from the year 1998.

Action

The film describes the lives of three people belonging to different generations, but they have one thing in common. George Perkins Marsh (1801-1882) was a politician and writer, Frederick H. Billings (1823-1890) was a lawyer and Laurence Rockefeller (1910-2004) was a businessman and philanthropist.

Common to all three is the conservative political views and their connection to the small town of Woodstock, Vermont, the birthplace of George Perkins Marsh. The three men bought land on to their followers living in harmony with nature to teach. These activities led to the Marsh - Billings - Rockefeller National Historical Park was established.

1999, the film was nominated in the category of Best Short Documentary Oscar.
