A is a software package for the programming language A, which was developed in 1988 by Arthur Whitney at Morgan Stanley. Looking for an APL implementation for SunOS had chosen a self programming to meet the demands of investment banking for high capacity and high performance in the financial calculation. After the development phase A was connected together with other components to the program package A .
An official development group was formed in 1992.
