A Tale of Love and Darkness

A Tale of Love and Darkness ( Hebrew Original Title: סיפור על אהבה וחושך ) is a novel by Israeli author Amos Oz, which is held in the autobiographical style.

Description

The novel was published in 2002 in Hebrew, 2004 at Suhrkamp Verlag as a German edition and has since been translated into more than 15 languages. The story deals with the childhood of Amos Klausner in Jerusalem of the Mandate period, the establishment of Israel, his time at Kibbutz Hulda, and family history of the ancestors of Amos in pre-war Europe. The way his parents and his own cross the Israeli variables, such as Samuel Agnon, Saul Tschernichowski, David Ben Gurion or the poet Zelda and his great-uncle Joseph Klausner.

Elias Khoury, a Palestinian lawyer from Jerusalem, whose son George 2004 victims of an attack by Palestinians was a year which mistakenly thought he was a Jew, has taken over the cost of the Arabic translation of the book.
