A. K. Antony

Arackaparambil Kurien Antony ( born December 28, 1940 in Cherthala, Alappuzha District, Kerala, India) is an Indian politician. He belongs to the Indian National Congress party.

He was three times (1977-1978, 1995-1996 and 2001-2004) Chief Minister ( head of government) of the Indian state of Kerala. Since 1985 he is a member of Rajya Sabha with interruptions (Upper House of Indian Parliament ). 1993 to 1995 he was Minister for Consumer Affairs and Indian food. Since 2006 he has been Minister of Defence of India (currently the Cabinet Minister Manmohan Singh II).
