A. R. Rahman

Allah Rakha Rahman ( Tamil: ஏ ஆர் ரஹ்மான்; born January 6, 1966 in Madras, now Chennai. . ) Is an Indian composer and singer. He writes film music and popular music.

Life

In India, he is a big star and his concerts are well attended. Particularly well-known songs are the ones he composed for Hindi films and Tamil films.

He created the music for the musical Bombay Dreams, and worked there together with the English lyricist Don Black. It took place in London well received, but was already running 2005. On Broadway, it was also listed under the London success.

AR Rahman was born a Hindu and converted to Islam in 1989. He changed his name AS Dileep Kumar AR Rahman.

In 2010 he was honored with a Padma Bhushan. A year later, Rahman once again received a Golden Globe and two Oscar nominations for the music for Danny Boyle's drama 127 Hours (2010).

2011 awarded the World Economic Forum in Davos Rahman along with Robert De Niro and José Carreras the crystal award for their " creative use for the challenges of the world." Rahman was mainly due to his commitment to hungry and underprivileged children he supports using the AR Rahman Foundation honored.
