A. S. J. Tessimond

Arthur Seymour John Tessimond ( born July 19, 1902 in Birkenhead, † 13 May 1962 Chelsea, London) was an English poet.

Life

A.S.J. Tessimond attended until the age of 14 years, the Birkenhead School and then the elite private school Charterhouse School. At age 16, he tore out of there. From 1922 to 1926 attended Tessimond the University of Liverpool where he attended the courses of study English literature, French, Greek and philosophy. Later he moved to London, where he pursued paid employment in bookstores and in addition took minor works as a copier.

After he was able to avoid military service in World War II, you have a mental illness diagnosed later with him. Tessimond therefore suffered from bipolar disorder and has been subjected to therapeutic measures electrical therapy.

Tessimond died in 1962 of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Career

The first poems were published Tessimonds in the 1920s in literary magazines. In all, he published during his lifetime three bands poem: The Walls of Glass ( 1934), Voices in a Giant City (1947 ) and Selections (1958).

Mid-1970s was Tessimonds creative theme of an English radio series entitled Portrait of a Romantic. Together with the posthumous publication of the work Not Love Perhaps in 1972, the public became interested in its work; ultimately was selected poetry Tessimonds in English textbooks for teaching material.
