ACT is a Swedish progressive rock band from Malmö, founded in 1994 under the name of Fairyland.

History

The band was founded in 1994 under the name of Fairyland by guitarist Ola Andersson, drummer Tomas Erlandsson, and vocalist Jens Appelgren. Short time later added keyboardist Jerry Sahlin. Without a bassist, the band began with the samples until finally Simon Niklasson came as a bass player for the band and the first appearance followed. In 1995, Appelgren left the band and was replaced by Herman Saming. A short time later, Peter Asp came as the new bassist for the band. Then, the group changed its name to ACT She then took part in the music competition music part direct and reached the finals. Two songs recorded during the competition, were included later on a compilation. Towards the end of another demo was recorded in Svedala, but never published. In 1996, the band recorded another demo and published by this Media 200 copies. After that, the band recorded again on Music Direct and won de competition, the band was also able to achieve attention. This was followed by various performances, the group also appeared as the opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen. In 1999 the band published their debut album Today's report at MTM Music. After the album Imaginary Friends was published by the same label in 2001, the band performed at the ProgPower Europe in 2002. In 2003, the next album Last Epic Records followed in Atenzia, which Silence in 2006, released on InsideOut Music, joined.

Style

The band plays melodic progressive rock, while also isolated elements from the metal can be heard.
