A.D. Police: To Protect and Serve

A.D. Police is an anime television series in 1999. It is a remake or prequel of AD. Police from 1990, which was in turn an offshoot of the anime Bubblegum Crisis. Again in 2003 the offshoot Parasite Dolls has been released. The work is classified in the genres of science fiction, action and cyberpunk.

Content

Kenji Sasaki, an officer in the AD Police in Tokyo, has lost another partner. Now he gets the German Hans Kleif to his side. Now he has in common with him against runaway Boomer, android robot, fighting, threatening the city. This has come after an earthquake under the control of the Group genome, which has built up the city with the help of Boomer back.

Production and publication

1999 produced the studio AIC under the direction of Hidehito Ueda a recasting of the substance. The character design designed Naoyuki Konno, artistic director Shinji was Katahira. The design of the mechas comes from Natsuki Mamiya, Reimu Aoki and Toru Takahashi.

The series was broadcast by the station TV Tokyo from 8 April to 30 June 1999. An English translation with the title A.D. Police: To Protect and Serve was released on DVD and aired on The Anime Network on television and via streaming. Furthermore, there is a French and a Korean version.

Music

Yoshinobu Hiraiwa was responsible for the music of the anime. Was used for the opening credits the song Imaginary Girl by infix, the guy is Toki no Naka de title of Masha.

Reception

According to the magazine Funime the series was a failure. This is attributed mainly to the insufficient budget. The Anime Encyclopedia refers to the series as disappointing. It is strongly departs from the previous concept and the plot instead been created as a buddy movie. Has become especially evident in their choice of names that was highly respected in the production on the international marketability.
