A1 Team Mexico

A1 Team Mexico (English stylization: A1Team.Mexico ) was the Mexican National Team in the A1GP series.

History

A1 Team Mexico was founded by Juan Cortina and Julio Jáuregui, in the fourth season was additionally Jose Ramon Elizondo as Seat Holder added; as team acted in the first two seasons, the French team DAMS, in the third season, the British team Craft and thereafter, the Spanish racing team del Mediterráneo.

In the first season the team was mediocre. After a sixth place in the sprint race at Brands Hatch by Salvador Durán and thus the first points placement, it has achieved the first podium with third place already in the main race. Another season highlight was the third place in the sprint race is in Sentul, which has also been driven by Durán. The strongest performance of the season provided the team with a double win at Laguna Seca, driver was again Durán. After another podium - a third in the last race weekend in Shanghai - ended the team's season in eleventh place with 59 points.

The following season it was unchanged. At a second place in the sprint race of the opening weekend at Zandvoort was followed by a third place finish in the feature race in Brno. By a further podium, a second place in the sprint race in Beijing, the team took over briefly the championship lead. A new second place was the team sprint race celebrate in Sentul. After a dry spell of six race weekends in a row without placing in the points ( the only point the team achieved by setting the fastest lap at the home race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez ), the team finished the season in tenth place overall with 35 points.

In the third season, the team slipped into the back field. After Salvador Durán had arranged with two fourth places in Zandvoort for an enjoyable start, the team was able to achieve only two more points results with Davíd Garza as a driver. It finished the season finally at the 16th position overall with 22 points.

At the opening weekend of the fourth season, the team was forced to watch due to the chassis delivery problems. It was followed by four race weekends without a single points result, until finally in the main race in Portimao with a fourth place by Durán was achieved the first. At Brands Hatch, followed by two more, including a third place in the sprint race. The team finished the season overall standings with 19 points from 13.

A1 Team Mexico has participated in 38 race weekends of the A1GP series.

Driver

A1 Team Mexico put on race weekends, one of eight different drivers, all of whom also took part in the race itself. In addition, the official test at Silverstone came in 2005 Memo Rojas and the official test in 2006 Mario Domínguez used. This was followed by Alfonso " Picho " Toledano and Arturo González at the first official test in 2007 and Esteban Gutierrez in the second.
