The French Autoroute A26 is a 394 km long motorway in northern France, the Calais and Troyes connects. It is also called the Autoroute des Anglais, because it forms the major link between the ferry Dover -Calais and the Euro Tunnel and the North and East of France. Especially during the summer holiday season is running on a large number of British vehicles this highway. Before the opening of the A16 in the 1990s was part of the A26 road link from London to Paris.

The highway is part of the European routes E15 and E17.

Route

The highway begins in Calais at the motorway junction with the A16, from here there is also direct access to the car ferries. Subsequently, the highway runs south-east past the towns of Saint- Omer, Béthune, Lens and Arras. In the near Arras crosses the A1, which leads to Paris.

The A26 then continues in a southeasterly direction, passing Cambrai, Saint- Quentin and Laon, before it hits near Reims on the A4. For the next 36 km A26 and A4 jointly run by Chalons-en -Champagne, where separate the highways again. The A26 runs further south until it meets at the motorway junction in the vicinity of Troyes on the A5.

The motorway is operated by the SANEF.

Future

The A26 is to be extended until 2025 to the A71 at Bourges via Auxerre. They will replace the N77 and N151, which are just like the A26 part of the second variant of the Grand contournement de Paris.
