The Rijksweg 28 ( Abbreviation: RW 28 ) - Short Form: Autosnelweg 28 ( Abbreviation: A28 ) - is a Dutch highway, which runs from Utrecht to Groningen. The highway begins at about one kilometer west of the Cross Rijnsweerd in Utrecht and Amersfoort runs over, Harderwijk, Wezep, Zwolle, Meppel, Hoogeveen and Assen motorway ring Groningen. The A28 has a length of 187.4 km. It is considered the most important north -west connection in the Netherlands.
On Knooppunt Hoevelaken the A28 crosses the A1. From Harderwijk until after Wezep runs along the Veluwe highway. When Knooppunt Hattemerbroek, shortly before Zwolle, the A50/N50 crosses the course of the A28. Shortly after the Knooppunt is the bridge that crosses the IJssel. On Knooppunt Lankhorst, between Staphorst and Meppel, the A32, which runs from there to Leeuwarden begins.
When Knooppunt Hoogeveen the A37 east to the German border is on; the A28 will continue from there north. From the south, the N48 runs. Between the ruins and Dwingeloo exits the A28 runs along the National Park Dwingelderveld. In Assen, the N33 crosses the path of the A28 and the N34 in Groningen. On Knooppunt Julianaplein the A28 ends and runs into the A7/N7.
Between the Knooppunt Rijnsweerd and the Knooppunt Hoevelaken is the A28 part of the European Route 30, from Knooppunt Hoevelaken to Knooppunt Julianaplein it is part of the European Route 232
The lack of exit 1
The Junction 3 was originally planned as exit Zeist -West, because it was not built, missing a number in the numbering. So simple was the beginning of the "1" omitted.
