Autoceļš A7 is an entity belonging to Latvian State Roads " State Street " ( lett valsts galvenie Autoceļi ). It connects the capital Riga with Bauska and the Lithuanian border at Grenctāle. At the border the road is continued by the Lithuanian A10. The A7 is a part of Europe 67, the so-called Via Baltica. The total length is 86 kilometers. The speed limit is set to 90 km / h. The average traffic volume was 11107 vehicles per day in 2010.

Similarly, the A7 motorway is expanded only in the area of Riga, the other route is passable only with a road and two lanes. In the years 2005-2006 the A7 was renewed on the sections of 25 to 43 and from 67 to 85 kilometers.

In 2012, a two- kilometer section in Iecava was (km 42.90 to km 44.80 ) rebuilt. The conversion of a further 15 -kilometer stretch of track between Riga and Kekava started in 2012 and was to be completed in 2013.
