The A96 is a trunk road in Scotland. It begins in Aberdeen city center and ends at the A9 east of Inverness.

In the center of Aberdeen near the port facilities on the A96 Dee begins. It runs through parts of the city center and Aberdeen leaves through the north-western parts of the city and suburbs. Then passes through the rural west of Aberdeenshire and Inverurie crosses the Don. From there follows the course of the A96 or six miles beyond Old Rayne largely the course of the River Urie. It is headed by Huntly and previously led for a few hundred meters along with A97, which reaches the center Huntlys.

North-west of Huntly the road crosses the Deveron and finally reaches the Moray Council Area. In Keith they crossed the Isla and run a few miles with the A95. Next run in a westerly and north-westerly direction crossing the road in the Fochabers Spey and then runs through the center of Elgin. With the Lossie and, beyond Forres, Findhorn cross the two rivers before the road reaches west of Auldearn Highland region. About Nairn the south coast of the Moray Firth, following the A96 finally ends east of Inverness to a total length of 166 km of the A9.
