The A991 road is an A road in Scotland. It runs with a total length of 2.9 kilometers exclusively in the inner city of Dundee, where it forms the inner ring road. The road runs consistently under the name Marketgait.

Course

The A991 takes the from the south on the Firth of Tay Bridge ( A92 ) to Dundee to oncoming traffic. To the east, they shall be kept for about 200 m along the A92 until it extends further to the east following the coast of Angus and Aberdeenshire. The A991 buckled at this point off to the north and takes from the north of the A90 (outer ring) incident on A929. At a roundabout take the A923 ( Dunkeld Dundee ) opens one which leads from the A90 through the north-western parts of the city into the center of Dundee. In the southwest of the A991 binds to the city's railway station to the road network and forms the end point of coming from Oban A85 before they again reached the junction of the A90.

Environment

On their run, the A991 happened several listed buildings and separates from the campus of the University of Dundee from the University of Abertay. Across the Firth of Tay Bridge is the neoclassical Exchange Coffee House. A little further east, the building of the former Port Authority is located. With the St Andrew 's Church opposite the mouth of the King 's Street and South Church at the junction of two Nethergate church building of the highest monument category A are located on the A991. The former textile mill of the Tay Works was one of the largest operations of its kind in the UK and attracts about 200 meters along the road. Opposite is the former courthouse.
