Aa (Möhne)

The Aa at the 3rd Aamühle

The Aa is a 7.4 km long, orographic left tributary of the Möhne in Brilon, North Rhine -Westphalia ( Germany ).

Course

The source of Aa is located in the district of Altenbüren. From here it flows in an easterly direction. At 473 meters high Hexenstein it turns its course to the north. Here ends the inflowing from the south Hilbringse. Half a kilometer further they reached the upper mill, one of five former mills in the Aa valley, the so-called Aamühlen. Behind the Low mill flows to the left side coming from the north Fülsenbecke. In the following section of the river Aa disappeared up to seal the Schwalchlochs in Brilon Massenkalk. Today it flows above ground in a northeasterly direction and flows after 7.4 kilometers into the Mohne. This site is approximately 1.5 kilometers north of Brilon to 387 m above sea level. NN. The Aa overcomes a height difference of 72 meters, which corresponds to an average bed slope of 9.7 ‰.

Others

More recently, the Möhne source was specified on the northern slope of the mountain Popp. This creek was called at the confluence with the Aa but until recent times Hunderbecke so that the arteries can be considered as one of the headwaters of the Mohne.
