The Aalborg Pirates are an ice hockey team from Aalborg. The team was created in 1967 as an ice hockey department of the Danish sports club Aalborg BK, which became independent in 1980. Its home games wearing the Pirates since 2007 in the newly opened sports area of ​​the Gigantium.

History

The Hockey department of Aalborg BK was founded in 1967. Could draw attention first on the team in the 1975/76 season, when they finished second in the AL -Bank Ligaen, the highest Danish league. After 13 years of service to Aalborg BK to the Hockey Department 1980 separated officially from the original club and a year later became the first and so far only time Danish champion. This success could despite nine other second-place finishes - including five final defeats since 2004 - no longer repeat. In 1997 the club merged with the Ishockeyklubben Aalborg. This resulted in the renaming of the club in Aalborg Ishockey club result.
