AAMI Classic

The AAMI Kooyong Classic ( also Kooyong Classic, 1991-2001 Colonial Classic) is an international invitation tournament in men's tennis, which will be held in Melbourne's Kooyong and in January, shortly before the Australian Open, takes place. It was created after the move of the Australian Open in 1988 by Kooyong Stadium in the newly established Melbourne Park.

The tournament is not part of the ATP World Tour, that is, the players win here no points for the ATP world rankings. Nevertheless, it is often used by top players in preparation for the Australian Open. It is not discharged in the knockout system. Instead, each player will compete in a preliminary round three matches before be determined in the final round, the winner, second and third - place finisher.

Main sponsor of the Kooyong Classic since 2006 AAMI ( Australian Associated Motor Insurers Ltd. ), An Australian auto insurers belonging to the Suncorp Metway Group.
