Aardenburg (formerly also Rodenburg ) is a town in the Dutch municipality of Sluis in the province of Zeeland. The town has 2423 inhabitants and is situated close to the border with Belgium. Aardenburg was a separate municipality until 1995, which was then merged with the municipality of Sluis Sluis - Aardenburg to the new community. Their main village Aardenburg. 2003 merged Sluis - Aardenburg with the community Oostburg to the municipality of Sluis.

History

Aardenburg is on the foundations of the Roman fort " Castellum Radannum ". This left 170, the Roman governor of the province of Gallia Belgica, Didius Julianus, 170 built.

Attractions

In Aardenburg is with the " Sint- Bavo church " a well-preserved relic of the Scheldt Gothic style. She is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
