Aarne Tarkas

Aarne Tarkas ( until 1947 Aarne Saastamoinen, born December 19, 1923 in Pori, † October 7, 1976 in Denia, Spain) was a Finnish film director and screenwriter.

Tarkas was the same for his first film with screenwriter Matti Kassila the Jussi and founded the following year, 1952, the " junior film" with which he successful films, such as The White Reindeer ( Valkoinen peura ) produced. A prolific author, he came up to five films per year; among its approximately 35 screenplays were adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars stories, which he took also his last name.

A number of young actress owe Tarkas first experience, as he put them in his works, as Risto Mäkelä, Spede Pasanen or Liana Kaarina. In the late 1960s Tarkas turned with great success for television, including for " OY Mainos TV Reklam AB ". He died at the age of 52 at a Herzinkfarkt.
