Aaron Doornekamp

Aaron Rene Doornekamp ( born December 5, 1985 in Napanee, Ontario ) is a Canadian- Dutch basketball player. The Canadian national team plays according to its origin in European leagues with Dutch license. Since the Basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Doornekamp plays for the German first division New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig out after he was active as a professional in Italy before. Doornekamps older brother Nate was also active as a professional basketball player in the German Bundesliga.

Career

Doornekamp studied in his native country at Carleton University, where he played from 2004 for five years in the high school team Ravens among others, along with the later Bundesliga player Osvaldo Jeanty. Together they won by 2007 three University Championships of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport ( CIS). When Cup 2007 Doornekamp was named " Most Valuable Player " ( MVP ) of the "Final 8" Championship tournament. After Jeanty was turned pro Doornekamp went with the Ravens again in 2008 the semi-finals of the championship and was named the CIS player of the year. After Doornekamp debuted in the Canadian Men's National Team in 2006, he reached the fourth place in the Basketball America Championship in 2009 with the selection of 2009.

2009 was also Doornekamp professional and signed a contract in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A at JuveCaserta basket of Caserta. Here he played as a Canadian national team player with a Dutch license to fall under less restrictive foreigner restrictions of the Italian League for EU citizens. In the 2009/10 season they reached the second place after the main round and was eliminated in the semifinal series of the play-offs at the Italian championship in five games just against Armani Jeans Milan after he was located after three games even with two wins ahead.
