Aaron Gavey

Aaron Gavey ( born February 22, 1974 in Sudbury, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ).

Career

Aaron Gavey first played three years for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ). In 1992, he won the championship with the team in the OHL, the J. Ross Robertson Cup, and a year later they only lost in the final. Also in 1993 he won with the Greyhounds the Memorial Cup, the highest trophy in junior hockey in North America. In 1994 he became world champion with the national junior team in Canada.

After the links shooter was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning at 74th place in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992, he moved to the 1995/96 season in the National Hockey League. There he completed a total of 379 appearances for Tampa Bay, the Calgary Flames, the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. It was reaching the Stanley Cup Finals ( 2:4 against the New Jersey Devils ) with the stars in the season 1999/2000 the greatest success.

Gavey also played in the International Hockey League and the American Hockey League, most recently in the 2005/06 season for the Portland Pirates ( AHL ), where he also occupied the post of team captain. He also played in the 2004/05 season in Norway for Storhamar Dragons. However, he left after a burglary in his house, and threats against his family the club after just one game again. Shortly after the start of the 2006 /07 signed a one-year contract with Gavey DEL club Kölner Haie. Since this was not renewed in the summer of 2007 by the KEC, Gavey ended his active career.

Gavey and his wife Jennifer three children: Joshua (* 2001), Olivia (* 2003) and Elizabeth (* 2006 in Cologne ).
