Aaron Scotus

Aaron (* in Scotland, † December 14, 1052 ) was abbot of St. Martin in Cologne.

Aaron came in his youth pilgrimage to Cologne for the Scots monastery of St. Martin, in 1042 there was abbot, and later still at St. Pantaleon.

In the Library of St. Martin to be kept by him in manuscript: ". Tractatus de utilitate cantus vocalis et de modo cantandi atque psallendi " One of Trittenheim services mentioned above in his Hirschenauer Annals treatise " De regulis tonorum et symphoniarum " is, in the opinion of the musicologist Johann Nikolaus Forkel ( Litt. 485) also assigned to Aaron.
