Aasmund Olavsson Vinje

Aasmund Olavsson Vinje ( born April 6, 1818 in Vinje, Telemark, † 30 July 1870 in Gran ) was a Norwegian poet, journalist and supporter of Ivar Aasen Landsmål from which later developed into the official written language Nynorsk.

Vinje is the author of a poem cycle, the Edvard Grieg set to music. This song cycle, Op 33 contains 12 songs, which are often found in programs of recitals. Especially in 2007 - the 100th year of death Grieg - Vinjes therefore received poetry much attention and dissemination.
