Abapó

Abapo is a country town in the department of Santa Cruz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Abapo is the most populous city in the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Cabezas in the province of Cordillera. The city lies at an altitude of 445 m on the left bank of the Río Grande, which finally reached the Bolivian lowlands here.

Geography

Abapo is in the range of the tropical climate, the six-month period humidity ranges from November to April and the dry season from May to October.

Traffic network

Abapo lies at a distance of 142 kilometers of road south of Santa Cruz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From Santa Cruz the paved highway Route 9 leads south across Cabezas after Abapo and on about Ipitá and Villa Montes Yacuíba according to the Bolivian border to Argentina.

Abapo is also holding point of the railway line from Santa Cruz to Yacuíba. From Abapo from there passenger train connections to the north as in the south, which carry passengers in about three hours to Santa Cruz and in twelve hours after Yacuíba.
