Abaqulusi Local Municipality

AbaQulusi (English abaQulusi Local Municipality ) is a town in South Africa's Zululand District in the province of KwaZulu -Natal. The administrative center of the municipality is located in Vryheid. George Dlamini is the mayor. The IFP represents the majority in the City Council.

2007, the municipality had 194 469 inhabitants. It covers an area of ​​4185 square kilometers. The name abaQulusi was the name of the people from ebaQulusini, an important area of ​​influence King Shaka in Zulureich.

Geography

There are grown among other corn, peanuts and soybeans. The livestock was an important economic activity, but it is severely hampered by rising costs and cattle theft. A major problem is the fact that most raw materials are processed outside the region.

Due to the excellent transport links, the community has a lot of potential for tourism. AbaQulusi boasts beautiful scenery with lots of wildlife and over 370 bird species. There are also many game farms. The region is ideal for eco-tourism. Also the various historic sites are important for tourism, for example, the scene of the Battle of Blood River, the Battlefields Route and the Zulukönigreich general.
