Abatai, Rennell Island

Abatai is a village on the island of Rennell in the Solomon Islands province of Rennell and Bellona. Neighbouring villages are Tesauma, Magino Matamoana and Nukumatangi.

The village is 40 km and for about two and a half hours drive away from Tigoa in the east of the island. Abatai is located on the Kangava Bay, with white beach and coral reefs. The total population of around 80 people in Abatai. They belong to either the South Seas Evangelical Church ( SSEC ) or are Baptists. The local police station is located in Tigoa, as well as an employee of the provincial government.
