Abatur

Abatur (also Abat ( h) ur, Persian: of the scale ) is a mythical figure of the Mandaeans. It initially is a creator and beings of light and is considered a personification of the so-called third life. He is the son of Josh amine and father of Ptahil.

When he commissioned Ptahil to create the world Tibil, he fell into disgrace at Mana rurbe and now became the judge of the dead. He weighs therefore the final judgment, the souls of the dead and their deeds, and decides whether the souls shall the realm of light or have in the underworld, and is therefore likely to be equated with Abaddon.

Abatur will be redeemed at the end of the days of Hibil from this task.
