Abbadia Lariana

Abbadia Lariana is a town on Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy. Abbadia Lariana has 3233 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) at 17.09 km ². Abbadia Lariana is situated on a rocky promontory at the mouth of Zerbo in the Lago di Como. The place is a good starting point for hiking on the Mount Grigna.

History

The name comes from an old Abbey (Italian: Abbazia) is standing in the village. From the Abbey but is nothing more to see today. This abbey was first inhabited by Benedictine monks. Later the monastery of San Vincenzo in Milan appropriated. In the 13th century it became the Servite.
