Abbassus

Abbassos (Latin Abbassus ) or Ambason (Greek Ἄμβασον ) was an ancient city in Asia Minor in Phrygia.

It is mentioned by the Roman historian Livy on the occasion of his detailed, going back to Polybius portrayal of the campaign of the consul Gnaeus Manlius Vulso against the Galatians of Asia Minor. Accordingly, this consul in 189 BC touched on his march to Galatia also Abbassos that the border was to the tribe of Tolistobogier then.
