Abberode is a district of the town of Mansfeld in the district of Mansfeld- South Harz, Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Abberode is located on the plateau of the Lower Harz, north bounded by the valley of the Wiebeck and south of the Einetal.

History

Abberode was mentioned as Abroden first 966 documentary. Later, the place was called Abterode. From the medieval church of St. Stephen, donated by an abbot to Ballenstedt, today is only the bell tower (1998 restored). The church in the district Tilkerode was built in 1936. The villages Abberode, Tilkerode and stone bridges were throughout history in possession of several princes of Anhalt and Saxony Count. Near Tilkerode is an old Erzabbaugebiet, was initially close to the surface, and later in up to 60 meters deep dug in the 1762-1855 in Saigerschächten. While iron ore was mined mainly, but gold and Selenerzfunde attended in 1825 for worldwide recognition of the place. For this gold were minted in 1825 ( at Loos in Berlin) some ducats with the inscription "Ex auro Anhaltino ".

1822 there were 39 houses with 229 inhabitants in the place that was under the patrimonial by the Office Rammelburg in the Mansfeld mountain circuit. The current flowing through the place A then formed the boundary between Prussia and Anhalt- Bernburg.

On 6 March 2009 Abberode was incorporated to Mansfeld.

Attractions

Between Abberode and Stangerode along the L 228 is located on a hill above the road Ulbricht 's historic Rügegericht the deserted village Volkmannrode. This peasant dish site was first mentioned in 1489 and remained until 1875 continuously a place of lower jurisdiction. The place of judgment in its trinity of Court Cottage, Linden ( 860-920 years old ) and ruined church stands today as a memorial area under protection. Volkmannrode was associated with Harzgerode exclave of the country Anhalt.
