ABC Region

ABC paulista, Large ABC Region (Portuguese: Região do Grande ABC) or ABCD is a Brazilian industrial area on the outskirts of the city of São Paulo.

The ABC paulista is part of the metropolitan region of São Paulo (Portuguese: Região Metropolitana de São Paulo) and consists of the following seven administrative districts of the metropolitan area along: Santo André ( A), São Bernardo do Campo (B ), São Caetano do Sul (C ), Diadema (D), Maua, Ribeirão Pires and Rio Grande da Serra.

São Caetano do Sul is about 20 km ² of the county with the lowest surface expansion in the ABC paulista. São Bernardo do Campo has the country's highest number of inhabitants and the largest area.

The ABC paulista is historically known as the heart of the Brazilian automotive industry. Here are several international companies, such as Daimler Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagen and General Motors. Due to the strong presence of the metal industry in the ABC paulista, the region was the cradle of the trade union movement in Brazil. In the 80 years, the former President of the Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a senior union official in the region.
