Abd-Allah ibn Jahsh

Abdallah ibn Jahsh, Abd Allah ibn Jahsh also (Arabic عبد الله بن جحش, DMG ʿ Abd Allāh b Ǧaḥš; . * 580, † 625 ), was an early supporter of Muhammad. His mother - an aunt of Muhammad - was Umaima bint ( daughter of ) Abd al - Muttalib. His sister, Zainab, was one of the wives of Muhammad in Medina. He had two brothers, Abu Ahmad and Ubaydullah. With the latter, he took part in the migration to Abyssinia, as some followers of Muhammad fled from Mecca to under the rule of the Christian Negus of Abyssinia to enjoy protection from the pagan Quraysh, meanwhile, pursued the Muslims in Mecca. His brother converted to Christianity and remained in Abyssinia until his death. Abdullah, however, returned to Mecca and migrated later to Yathrib (see Hijra ). He led in January 624 AD to the first successful Karawanenraubzug of Muslims in Nakhla, between Mecca and Ta'if two valleys and took in March of the same year at the Battle of Badr part. It was 625 AD killed at an age between 40 and 50 years at the Battle of Uhud.
