Abd ar-Rahman IV.

Abd ar -Rahman IV al - Murtada (Arabic عبد الرحمن المرتضى, DMG ʿ Abd ar -Rahman al - Murtada, † 1018) was Caliph of Córdoba ( 1018).

Abd ar -Rahman IV was raised in Valencia by some Berber leaders as Caliph, as in the Caliphate of Córdoba came the Hammudiden under Ali ibn Hammud -Nasir to power and the Caliph took office. Although he was able to ally with the Muslim governor of Saragossa and the Count of Barcelona, but he could not drive permanently from Córdoba Hammudiden. In an attack on Granada he was dropped by his Berber troops down, defeated and killed at Guadix on the run.
