Abd as-Salam ibn Mashish al-Alami

Abdeslam ibn Mchich Alami (Arabic عبد السلام بن مشيش العلمي Abd as- Salam ibn al - Alami Maschisch, ʿ Abd as- DMG Salām b Masis al - ʿ Alami, . * 1140 in Beni Aross in Tangier, † 1227 in Jbel el Alam ), also called Ben Mshish, was a Sufi marabout, who lived during the reign of the Almohads in the western Rif Mountains. His Qubba ( mausoleum ) is located in Jebel el Alam.

Abdeslam converted Abu l -Hasan ash- Shadhili to Sufism. His teacher was Abū Madyan ( 1126-1197/98 ), the patron saint of Tlemcen. Abdeslam was an ancestor of Sherif Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached Molla El Alami, the founder of Chefchaouen.

He wrote a collection of reflections on the political and religious life of his time and the Taslya, a hagiography ( eulogy ) on Mohammed to the Ahmad ibn Adschiba wrote a comment. He also created As- Salatul - Mashishiyyah, a metaphysical paraphrase of a famous prayer in which the believer calls upon God to bless the Prophet and thank to that reached by him it is Islam. Abdeslam understood the Prophet Mohammed as an expression of the one Spirit, to which everything is related and which is a permanent mediator between the incomprehensible God and the world.
