Abdelilah Benkirane

Abdelilah Benkirane (Arabic عبد الإله بنكيران, DMG ʿ Abd al - Ilah Binkīrān; born April 4, 1954 in Rabat ) is a Moroccan politician and General Secretary of the Party for Justice and Development. On November 29, 2011, he was by King Mohammed VI. appointed Prime Minister.

Education and Career

After he had taken his degree at the Lycée Moulay Youssef in Rabat, Abdelilah Benkirane was a student at the École d' Ingénieurs Mohamadia (EMI).

Since 1997, Benkirane is as MP for the constituency of Salé in Parliament. Abdelilah Benkirane was elected in Rabat on 20 July 2008 on the Secretary General of his party; He received 684 votes, before Saadeddine Othmani with 495 votes followed by Abdellah Baha with 14 votes.

In the parliamentary elections in Morocco in 2011 he faced a block of eight palace near- liberal parties, which sought to prevent an electoral victory of his party, which they did not succeed. According to the new Constitution, the Prime Minister now had to come from the ranks of the Party for Justice and Development since it was the largest party with 107 of 395 seats.
