Abdelmalek Sellal

Abdelmalek Sellal (Arabic عبد المالك سلال ʿ Abd al -Malik Sallal, born August 1, 1948 in Constantine, French Algeria ) is from 3 September 2012, the Prime Minister of Algeria.

Life

Abdelmalek Sellal, a Sunni Muslim and a member of the National Liberation Front ( FLN), studied at the École nationale d'administration in Algiers. 1996 to 1997 he was Algerian Ambassador to Hungary, 1998-1999 Interior and Minister of the Environment, 1999-2001 Youth and Sports Minister, 2001-2002 Minister of Public Works, 2002-2004 Minister of Transport and 2004 to 2009 and from 28 May 2010 to 2012 Minister for water resources. 2004 and 2009, he was campaign manager of President Abd al- Aziz Bouteflika. He was appointed after the parliamentary election in 2012 of President Bouteflika as his close confidant to succeed Ahmed Ouyahia.
