Abderrahmane Hammad

Abderrahmane Hammad (Arabic عبد الرحمن حماد, DMG ʿ Abd ar -Rahman Hammad, born May 27, 1977 in Dellys ) is a former Algerian vaulter.

From 1997 to 2005 he was nine consecutive times Algerian champion in the high jump. His personal best of 2.34 m at the same Algerian national record (as of April 2010).

At the international level, he celebrated his biggest success by winning the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He also won three consecutive times at Africa championships ( 1998, 2000 and 2002) and won at the Pan-African Games in 1999 in Johannesburg, the silver medal.

In addition, he participated in four World Athletics Championships (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007), in part, twice reached the final and finished it as best ranking ninth in 2001 in Edmonton. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he missed the final.

Abderrahmane Hammad is 1,89 m tall and had a competition weight of 70 kg. After numerous injuries, he ended his active career in early 2010.
