Abderus

Abderos (Greek Ἄβδηρος ) is a figure in Greek mythology. Abderos was a son of Hermes, was a native of Opus in Locris and was considered a lover of Heracles.

The fate of the Abderos is described in the legend of Hercules: One of the twelve labors, Heracles had to perform, consisted of the four wild mares of Diomedes - the Thracian king of the Bistonen - to steal. After Heracles, Diomedes had defeated, he threw it in front of their horses to devour, so that these saturated were easy to tame for him. After he had stolen the horses, Heracles wore the Abderos their supervision, while he himself fought against the invading Bistonen. The horses dragged Abderos in the absence of Heracles to death or torn him. Heracles then founded next to the grave of Abderos the eponymous city of Abdera. Another version tells that Abderos was a servant of Diomedes and was killed along with his Lord of Heracles.
