Abdi-Ashirta

Abdi- Ashirta (also Abdi- Aschirta or Abdi- Ašratu ) is a well known from the Amarna letters prince of Amurru, who reigned around 1380 BC. He was primarily responsible for the safety of the ancient Egyptian provincial capital Sumuru. With Rib-Addi he fought for supremacy in Amuru and took the villages against this Ambia, Sigata, Irqata and Batruna. Abdi- Ashirta is said to have murdered several city princes and planned an assassination attempt on Rib-Addi. About his end little is known. Successors were his sons Pubaḫla, Niqmepa and Aziru.
