Abdissares

Abdissares was in the second half of the 3rd century BC survivor, known only by coins king of Armenia.

Abdissares was probably the son of Arsames, came from the dynasty of Orontids and should have ruled around 225-215 BC in Armenia. His portrait appears on the obverse of his coins, which he is wearing a pointed tiara; on the back it is in Greek as Basileos Abdissarou (ie "King Abdissares " ) titled. His son was probably Xerxes of Armenia. Apparently presented Abdissares a tribute payments to the Seleucids, as Polybius mentions that Antiochus III. the Xerxes after he had this subject in 212 BC, the greatest part of that tribute payments issued, the Xerxes ' father was still owed.
