Abdsamiya

Abdsamiya was a ruler of Hatra, who ruled from about 180 to 198/199 AD.

Abdsamiya was the son of his predecessor Sanaṭrūq I. and father of his successor Sanaṭrūq II He is eight inscriptions known are dated from those two again. The one belongs to the year 192/93, the other inscription is probably posthumously and is located on a statue. It dates to the year 201 AD Abdsamiya is also at the Greek historian Herodian (3, 1, 3) cited as Barsemias. According to Herodian Abdsamiya Pescennius Niger have supported against Septimius Severus in the year 193. A statue of him is from the time before he ascended the throne. There are several inscriptions that mention him as crown prince.
