Abdul Rahman bin Faisal

Abdul Rahman ibn Abdallah (* 1850, † 1928), imam of the Wahhabis ( 1889-1891 and 1902-1928 ) belongs to the dynasty of Saud.

Abdul Rahman ibn Abdullah was the son of Abdallah III. ibn Faisal, who was the imam both religious and secular ruler of the Wahhabis since 1865.

1871 succeeded his uncle Saud ibn Faisal II, a brother of his father, to seize power. Abdul Rahman fled with his father from the Najd. Sent by his father to the Ottoman governors in Iraq, he reached their intervention in al - Hasa. When the Ottomans their rule now established in al - Hasa (1872 ) tried Abdul Rahman to distribute it by an uprising in al - Hofuf, this failed, however, so he had to flee again.

It was followed by a civil war between his father and uncle. As Saud II 1873 wounds which he had sustained in a campaign, deceased, Abdul Rahman helped his father again to reign as Iman in Najd. When his father died in 1889, he succeeded him after his brother Muhammad had renounced the throne.

1902 succeeded his son Abd al Aziz ibn Saud ( 1880-1953 ) by a coup to conquer the Fort Masmak in Riyadh and the re-establishment of Saudreichs in Najd. Abd al- Aziz saw his father again as the Imam of the Wahhabis to what it Abdul Rahman with the government a free hand left. Abd al- Aziz succeeded in the period following the unification of the Najd and the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
