Abdulah Gegić

Abdulah Gegić / Abdullah Gegic (* 1924 in Novi Pazar, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, † June 21, 2008 in Novi Sad, Serbia ) was a Yugoslav football coach.

Career

Abdulah Gegić began his career as coach of the Yugoslav national U21 team. Later, he also coached the Yugoslav national team itself with Partizan Belgrade in 1966, he came to the finals of the European Cup of Champions. The team coached by him but failed with 1:2 at Real Madrid. He then moved to Turkey to train Eskisehirspor and adopted in 1979, the Turkish citizenship, as Abdullah Gegic. From 1972 to 1974 he worked for Beşiktaş Istanbul, then to 1976 for Fenerbahce. For a short time he also coached the Turkish national team. (Football professor ) was Gegić in the Turkish press as Futbol Profesörü called. After his career he lived in the second largest Serbian city of Novi Sad, where he died in 2008.
