Abdullah (horse)

Abdullah ( born December 7, 1970 in Canada; † 5 January 2000) is still the most successful jumping the Trakehner breed. The gray stallion gained its greatest successes like winning the individual silver medal at the Olympic Games under Conrad Homfeld.

Life

Abdullah came from the breeding of the Trakehner stud Birkhausen in Germany. After his mother Abiza was sold in 1970 to Canada wearing, Abdullah came on December 7th in Unionville, Ontario with Gerhard Schickedanz to the world. As a three year old, he was sold to Terry and Sue Williams, the owner of the Williamsburg Farm, in the United States. First, he was ridden by his owner and was successful in dressage and eventing up to M. Also during his later career in show jumping accompanied by his owner to all his tournaments. After he was 18 -year-old retired from the sport, he was still ridden by Sue Williams. He died on 5 January 2000 at the age of 30 years at a colic. In 2009 he was inducted into the United States Show Jumping Hall of Fame. The Chronicle of The Horse named him one of the top 50 horses of the century.

Success in show jumping

He gained victory under Joe Fargis and Debbie Stephens, however, his greatest successes Get it under Conrad Homfeld. He is the father of internationally successful show horses, and among his descendants were a number of United States Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year.

In Germany, a descendant of Abdullah was licensed by the Trakehner Verband in 1996. Snowstorm TSF was under his rider Denis Lynch at the CHIO Aachen and Hickstead successful. Overall, he has in the Trakehnern in Germany three licensed sons ( snowstorm, Idahoe and Alaskatraum ), the licensed stallion in the U.S. Special Memories was recognized by the Trakehner Verband Germany.
