Abdullahi Issa

Abdullahi Issa Mahamud ( Somali: Cabdullahi Ciise Maxamuud, * 1922 in Afgooye, Somalia, † 1988) was Prime Minister from 1956 to 1960 of the UN Trust Territory of Italian Somaliland. After that, he was involved in various positions in the government of independent Somalia.

Life

At the outbreak of World War II Abdullahi Issa was a student. After the war, he joined the newly formed party Somali Youth League SYL and rose to become its general secretary. As an ambassador of the SYL, he traveled to Paris and New York to the concerns of the independence of Somaliland - to represent - for the SYL decided entered.

After he was elected to the elections in 1956 as deputy of the SYL, he was commanded to form Somalia's first government, with which he became the first Prime Minister of the country. In 1959 he was re-elected and remained Prime Minister, next he was at times exterior, interior and justice ministers.
